Resumo

LIA - Advanced interaction Laboratory was formed as a convergence of two research groups from the Computer Science Department at Universidade Federal de São Carlos. One group is involved on human-computer interaction research, and the other group has been working on the development of toots to support three-dimensional collaborative virtual environments. LIA sees FAPESP TIDIA e-learning project as an unparalleled initiative which will certainly place Brazil on the map of first line research in Distance Education, as was achieved with the Genoma project. LIA researchers understand the importance of this initiative, and is committed to participate in the e-learning Modality as an Associate Laboratory - LA. LIA aggregates the potential of its researchers team, who have already been developing toots and mechanisms for Distance Education. LIA characterizes as an emerging group which works towards the development of e-learning authoring tools and educational software components and so, satisfies TIDIA e-learning requirements to become a proponent for LA.
