Alex Nardes received a double Ph.D. degree in Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering, respectively, from the Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands, and the University of São Paulo, Brazil in 2007. As part of his Ph.D. studies, Dr. Nardes helped improving the understanding of electrical conductivity and charge transport in PEDOT:PSS, one of the most used transparent conducting polymers in the field of organic electronics. In 2008, he did a one-year Postdoctoral assignment at the University of Denver and NREL, a part-time position at each institution, doing consulting work for industrial partners. He joined NREL full time in 2009 as a Postdoctoral Researcher working on fundamental aspects of photophysics dynamics and charge transport of organic materials for photovoltaic applications. In 2013 he became a Research Scientist supporting several projects in the Chemical and Nanoscale Sciences Center. Dr. Nardes research interests are on charge transport and photophysics at the macro and nanoscales of new materials for photovoltaic applications, such as organic, perovskite, quantum dots, and hybrid organic/inorganic semiconductors; Particularly, Dr. Nardes is currently studying the interaction of IR-sensitized materials with excited states in organic semiconductors and the integration of plasmon-active nanostructured transparent and opaque electrodes into thin film photovoltaics. He is also involved in the development of perovskite semiconductors for PV applications, as well as new device designs for boosting their efficiencies. (Fonte: Currículo Lattes)
