He is a permanent professor (docente permanente) both in the department of philosophy at the Federal University of Pará (since 2015) and in the postgraduate program in metaphysics at the University of Brasilia (since 2019). His habilitation, "Order and Disorder in the Universe: Plato's "Timaeus" as a Thought Experiment", developed the novel interpretation of the Timaeus as a cohesive thought experiment and was published by Brill in 2024. Luca has authored more than 20 articles with leading publishers (Springer, Routledge, De Gruyter-Brill), and co-edited a volume entitled Ontology and Psychology in Plato (Springer, 2019). His contributions include leading or co-leading international projects, such as a UK-Brazil collaboration and a Proyecto de Generación de Conocimiento (Spain, 2022). He organized six major international conferences in Brazil and Spain and founded the Research Group "Cosmos", a Brazilian research group officially recognized by the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation. His work has fostered international collaborations, such as co-leading a project with Jean-Baptiste Brenet (Sorbonne) and receiving prizes like the François Chevalier Fellowship (MIAS, Madrid) and the Notre Dame History of Philosophy Forum Grant (USA). Luca actively engages in public dissemination of philosophy. He organized events such as "El universo insomne: desde el orden al caos" for Spains Noche de las Ideas (2023), blending academic and artistic perspectives on the universe's history. His outreach includes public discussions on philosophical interpretations of death, as well as media appearances, such as a podcast on Epicurus (Casa do Saber) and an introduction to Damascius (Podcast Archai). Additionally, he has evaluated research proposals for FAPESP and Spain's Agencia Estatal de Investigación (EVALUA), conducting 22 reviews since 2016, and peer-reviewed submissions for top journals in ancient philosophy, including Ancient Philosophy, The Plato Journal, Les Etudes Platoniciennes, Méthexis, Archai Revista and The International Journal of the Platonic Tradition.
