Alkathy is a distinguished physicist with over 18 years of experience in academia and cutting-edge research, specializing in condensed matter physics, energy materials, and multifunctional materials. A top-ranked graduate (2005) in Physics from Thamar University, Yemen, he was appointed a demonstrator in the Physics Department for his academic excellence. He further earned his Masters degree in Physics with First Division and Distinction from Osmania University, India, funded by the Yemeni government. After excelling in the IELTS exam, he was awarded a scholarship to pursue a Ph.D. in condensed matter physics at the University of Hyderabad, India.During his Ph.D., Alkathy emerged as a leading researcher under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. James Raju, focusing on high-dielectric and multifunctional materials (piezoelectric, ferroelectric, and multiferroic). His groundbreaking research led to high-impact publications in renowned journals. His expertise in energy materials also earned him a part-time role at GMW | Smart and Electric Vehicles Company (2015-2019), where he contributed to developing cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries. As a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Electronics Science and Technology (CASEST), University of Hyderabad, Alkathy continued to advance his research until June 2019. He then joined the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCAR), Brazil, under a FAPESP-funded project on Multiferroic and Ferroelectric Materials for Energy Converters. During this time, he collaborated with Prof. Dr. Jose Antonio Eiras and the Multifunctional Materials and Sensors Group (GMMS) to develop innovative protocols for enhancing photovoltaic performance through defect engineering and octahedral distortion in ferroelectric oxides. His work fostered collaborations with prestigious institutions worldwide, including the University of São Paulo, Pukyong National University (South Korea), Southern University of Science and Technology (China), and King Saud University (Saudi Arabia). From July 2023 to August 2024, Alkathy served as a Technical Training Specialist at UFSCAR, focusing on synthesizing and characterizing ferroelectric and multiferroic materials for energy storage and conversion. In September 2024, he was appointed as a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher in Energy Development Materials by CNPq, a role he continues to hold. Alkathy is also an active reviewer for high-impact journals, including the American Ceramic Society, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, and Journal of Materials Today.Awarded Brazilian nationality in April 2024, Alkathy is deeply committed to advancing Brazils clean energy future. His long-term vision is to establish himself as a faculty member at a leading Brazilian institution, where he aims to build a research group dedicated to pioneering sustainable energy solutions. Alkathy strives to contribute significantly to Brazils energy storage development and its transition to a cleaner, greener future through his innovative research and unwavering dedication.
