Jéssica Silva Peixoto Bem

Jéssica Bem, DDS, MS, MBA earned her DDS from the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil, where she actively engaged in social activities as a Student Representative and a Member of the Student Directory. During her undergraduate studies, she took part in the Science without Borders Program in the United States at Western Kentucky University, with funding provided by the Coordination of Superior Level Staff Improvement (CAPES). She completed a Residency in Pediatric Dentistry with a focus on Patients with Special Needs at the Institute of Integral Medicine Professor Fernando Figueira in Pernambuco, Brazil. Subsequently, she relocated to São Paulo, where she was granted a São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP, Brazil) scholarship while pursuing her Master's degree in the Pediatric Dentistry Program at the Ribeirão Preto School of Dentistry at the University of São Paulo (USP). As a PhD candidate in the same program, she was initially funded by a grant from the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and is currently supported by a FAPESP grant. Additionally, Jéssica was awarded a full scholarship through the University of São Paulo Scholarship Program to pursue her MBA in Project Management. Through the FAPESP Research Internship Abroad Fellowship, she conducted an exchange program at the University of Pennsylvania, working at the Center for Innovation and Precision Dentistry (CiPD), where she advanced studies in biofilm control strategies. With a strong background in cariology, oral microbiology, and preventive dentistry, her research focuses on biofilm control strategies using enzymes and natural compounds for anticaries applications. She has experience in both in vitro and translational research, as well as leadership roles in academic organizations, event coordination, and international collaboration.
