He is an Associate Professor (MS-5.1) in the Department of Materials Engineering (SMM) at the São Carlos School of Engineering (EESC), University of São Paulo (USP), specialising in the areas of Mechanical Behaviour, Fracture Mechanics, and Corrosion. He is also the vice coordinator of the Postgraduate Programme in Materials Science and Engineering (CEM) at EESC-USP. He holds a degree in Physics from the State University of Central-West (Unicentro), a Master's degree in Materials Engineering from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), and a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of São Paulo (USP), with a period taken place at the Mechanical and Materials Technologies Centre (CT2M) at the University of Minho, Portugal. He completed his postdoctoral work at the Nuclear and Energy Research Institute (IPEN). Throughout his career, he has served as a visiting professor at Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology (Canada) and at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) at the University of Lisbon (UL). Between 2013 and 2023, he was a professor at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology Goiano (IF Goiano) and the Federal University of Triângulo Mineiro (UFTM). He was also a professor in the Postgraduate Programme in Agrochemistry (PPGAq) at IF Goiano from 2014 to 2017. From 2017 to 2023, he was a professor in the Multicentre Postgraduate Programmes in Chemistry of Minas Gerais (PPGMQ-MG) and Science and Technology of Materials (PPGCTM) at UFTM, supervising master's and doctoral students. He is a member of the Minas Gerais Chemistry Network (RMQ) and a professor in the CEM-EESC-USP (Level 6) and EM-EESC-USP (Level 7) Postgraduate Programmes. Since 2015, he has been a Research Productivity Fellow (Level 2) of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) in Materials Engineering and Metallurgy. His main research topics include Materials Engineering and Metallurgy, Mechanical Properties of Metals and Alloys, Fracture Toughness, and Synergistic Corrosion-Fatigue Processes. He has extensive experience in corrosion and the technique of Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy. Additionally, he has expertise in Condensed Matter Physics, emphasising Structural Refinement (Rietveld Method), X-ray Diffraction, and Chemical Nanotechnology. He maintains international collaborations with Instituto Superior Técnico de Lisboa (IST-Portugal), University of Minho (UM-Portugal), University of North Florida (USA), Jain University (India), Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM-Germany), Technische Universität Berlin, and Alexander Kopp - Meotec GmbH Germany. In Brazil, he collaborates with various institutions, including the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC), Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), State University of Londrina (UEL), University of Campinas (UNICAMP), São Paulo State University (UNESP), USP Polytechnic School, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (USP-Ribeirão Preto), São Carlos School of Engineering (USP-São Carlos), Federal University of Triângulo Mineiro (UFTM), Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Federal University of São João Del Rei (UFSJ), Federal Institute Goiano (IF Goiano), and the EMBRAPII Unit in Agro-Food Solutions at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Triângulo Mineiro (IFTM). In addition to his research and teaching activities, he serves as a reviewer for more than 30 international journals listed on the JCR and as an ad-hoc consultant for funding agencies such as FAPEG, CNPq, and CAPES. He is the leader of the NEESC Research Group in the CNPq Research Directory and the coordinator of the Mechanical Testing and Failure Analysis Centre (NEMAF) in the Department of Materials Engineering (SMM) at the São Carlos School of Engineering (EESC), University of São Paulo (USP).
