Carsten Blaess

Dr. Blaess is a Material Scientist with B.Sc. from the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena (FSU, Germany, 2012), M.Sc. (2015) and Ph.D. (Dr.-Ing., 2021) from the Technical University Clausthal (TUC, Germany). Following his doctoral studies, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow (DFG) at Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) (2020-2023, 2023-2024), and as Walter-Benjamin Fellow (DFG, 05/2023-10/2023) and as Visiting Scientist (03/2024-10/2024) at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar/DEMa). Currently, he is working as Postdoctoral fellow (FAPESP) at the Departamento de Engenharia de Materiais (DEMa) of the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) and the São Carlos Institute of Physics (IFSC) at the University of São Paulo (USP).Dr. Blaess has interdisciplinary experience in the domains of Materials Science, Chemistry, and Physics, and authored 10 research articles in the field of Glass and Ceramic Sciences including bioactive materials, crystallization, viscous sintering and crack healing, foaming, and glass matrix composites.
