Microwave synthesis of nanostructured high entropy spinel

Resumo

A single-phase high entropy (CoCrFeMnNi)3O4 spinel presenting a cubic structure (Fd-3m) was microwave synthesized by a polymer-based synthesis. The complete synthesis route lasted no longer than 2 h. The high entropy spinels (HES) were characterized by X-ray diffractometry, transmission electron microscopy and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The as-synthesized powders yielded nanostructures and the calcination temperature of single-phase formation was observed to be at least 800 degrees C. The band gap energy of the microwave-irradiated HES was 2.2 eV and 2.45 eV of the conventionally calcined one. These band gap energy values indicate possibilities as a promising catalyst with tunable properties for application in the field of catalytic conversion. (AU)
