Resumo

Software-Defined Wireless Sensor Networks (SDWSNs) have grown in popularity and proved their usefulness in the Internet of Things (IoT) deployment since they provide centralized administration and improve network flexibility. However, in order to control and manage the network, the controller constantly exchanges control messages with the network nodes. As a result, it is critical to guarantee that control messages arrive at their destinations on time. We presented the Application Traffic Isolation (ATI) approach to isolate the different traffic types by slicing the network using IEEE 802.15.4e Time Slotted Channel Hopping (TSCH) technology. This approach demonstrated its effectiveness and resulted in an improvement in the data plane performance metrics. This study investigates the impact of the ATI approach on the control plane using the Control and Data Traffic Isolation (CDTI) approach as a reference comparison case. The evaluation process took into account up to four applications operating concurrently, as well as network sizes of up to 225 nodes. Contiki OS and Cooja simulator were used to run the simulations. In comparison to the CDTI approach, the ATI approach improved the control delivery rate and control delay by up to 47.91% and 41.36%, respectively. (AU)
