Resumo

This work aimed to provide new insights into the manufacturing of a composite material composed of alternating micrometric layers of CP-Ti and Ti-6Al-4V, which was achieved using a modified laser powder bed fusion platform. Dense materials were obtained, and interface analysis revealed the formation of a solid solution intermixed region. Both CP-Ti and Ti-6Al-4V layers exhibited a hexagonal martensitic microstructure. Texture preservation between layers was observed, and it was attributed to epitaxy during the solidification process. The multi-layered material exhibited increased strength with higher volume fractions of Ti-6Al-4V. The composite materials exhibited a compressive yield strength ranging from 670 to 930 MPa, values that did not follow the simple rule of mixtures. (AU)
