Resumo

Background: The increasing integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) in low- and medium-voltage networks poses challenges to maintaining power quality. The DERs reduce grid inertia and increase harmonic distortion, which may interact with nonlinear loads and passive compensation elements. Objective: This paper investigates parallel resonance phenomena in shunt capacitor banks within feeders connected to photovoltaic (PV) converters and proposes a control-based damping solution. Method: The proposed strategy replaces the conventional current reference generation in the converter control with a theory-based approach to synthesize a resistive load, thereby emulating passive damping behavior. The technique is evaluated under both voltage-oriented control (VOC-PI) and finite control set (FCS) predictive control frameworks. Sensitivity analyses are carried out to examine the influence of grid and control parameters on the stability of shunt resonance. Results: Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed resistive-load synthesis method effectively mitigates resonance peaks without any hardware modification. The results indicate that the stability and safety of PV-VSC systems can be enhanced through minor adjustments in the converter control structure, offering a low-cost and easily implementable alternative to conventional passive or active filtering techniques.
