Resumo
The project, initiated by the applicants (PIs) from UNICAMP (São Paulo) and the FAU-University of Erlangen (Bavaria), is ideally suited to broaden the existing bilateral cooperation and, through the two planned workshops, to advance the promotion of young scientists in São Paulo and Bavaria. A key aspect of networking is the cross-site and cross-disciplinary approach of the PIs and mentors, with focuses ranging from basic research in chemistry and physics to more applied materials science (Physics@UniCAMP, Sirius@CNPEM, and Nanotechnology@UNESP, as well as Chemistry@FAU, Physics@TU-Munich, and Chemistry@TU-Munich).Two joint workshops are intended to promote the advancement of young researchers in São Paulo and Bavaria, with a focus on networking and gaining knowledge and experience in the international environment of cutting-edge research. The target group includes doctoral candidates who are nearing the completion of their work, as well as postdoctoral researchers, habilitation candidates, and junior professors (within 10 years of PhD). Eighteen people from each side should take part in each workshop (in total, 2 PIs, 4 mentors, and 30 junior researchers). The selection will be made by the PIs with the support of the mentors, based on the quality of the applicants (in terms of their scientific age) and a balanced distribution across the universities in São Paulo and Bavaria. The proposed topic is highly topical and interdisciplinary. Since the beginnings of atomic and molecular sciences, enormous efforts have been made to produce, characterize, and manipulate low-dimensional materials at the atomic and molecular level. This control enables the exploration and manipulation of new electronic, magnetic, and chemical properties of matter. From a scientific perspective, the workshop aims to enhance the technical knowledge of participants through visits to research institutions and laboratories that focus on establishing future bilateral collaborations.
