Resumo

The Belmont Forum is a high level group of the world's major and emerging funders on global environmental change research and international science councils. It aims to accelerate delivery of the environmental research needed to remove critical barriers to sustainability by aligning and mobilising international resources (www.igfagcr.org/iof-home-page). One of the issues identified as of paramount interest to policy, science and society at large - and hence of keen interest to the Belmont Forum - is food security.The proposed workshop aims to gather an interdisciplinary group of scientists and Belmont Forum programme officers with high level of experience on food security and land use change to support the development of a proposed topic for a Belmont Forum Collaborative Research Action (CRA), to put to the Belmont Forum at their meeting in February 2013 for approval. The background and rational were develop as an introductory set of guide lines to support the discussions and meeting outcome.As a Belmont Forum participant, FAPESP is leading the CRA process on food security and land use change, and is proposing a Call Scoping Workshop to co-design a multilateral call for proposals and facilitate projects submission and selection.
