Gustavo Torquatro Oliva

Italian-Brazilian researcher with a Ph.D. in Forest Resources from the University of São Paulo (ESALQ/USP, Brazil, 2023, CAPES 6), funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). He also holds a Masters degree in Forest Ecosystem Conservation (2017) and a Bachelors degree in Environmental Management (2014), both from ESALQ/USP, Brazil.Since 2011, he has worked in thematic mapping, urban environmental management, and geospatial analysis (QGIS, Multispec, TNTmips, Spring, ArcGIS) at the Urban Forestry Laboratory of ESALQ/USP, developing expertise in GIS applications and urban forest inventories.In 2013, as part of his undergraduate studies, he completed a semester in Environmental Sciences at the Universidad de Salamanca, Spain, through the University of São Paulo's Academic Merit Scholarship Program.He also completed a 12-month research internship (BEPE/FAPESP) at the University of Bari Aldo Moro, Italy, under the supervision of Professors Raffaele Lafortezza and Giovanni Sanesi, focusing on climate change and nature-based solutions (NBS).Currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Università degli Studi di Bari (Italy), he investigates the relationship between green spaces, climate change, and mental health within the project "Freedom: Further Exploring Environmental Determinants of Mental Health."His research interests include urban forestry, urban microclimates, environmental comfort, and the role of vegetation in mitigating urban heat, with a strong academic background developed in Brazil.
