I am a bioinformatics specialist with a strong background in plant biotechnology, computational biology, and gene co-expression network analysis. My expertise spans over a decade in integrating biological engineering, genomics, transcriptomics, and bioinformatics to address challenges in bioenergy crops and conservation biology.I earned a Bachelor's degree in Biological Engineering (2007-2012) from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, where I developed expertise in systems biology and bioprocess engineering. My undergraduate research focused on modeling azadirachtin production in Azadirachta indica cell cultures.I pursued a Master's in Biotechnology (2015-2019) at the same institution, optimizing biomass production in Solanum tuberosum cell cultures. This work enhanced my skills in plant cell culture and bioprocess optimization. I to completed my PhD in Science (2025, february) at the Center of Nuclear Energy for Agriculture at the Universidade de São Paulo (USP/CENA), where I focused on gene co-expression networks, pan-transcriptomes in bioenergy crops like sugarcane and sorghum, applying advanced bioinformatics tools to analyze transcriptomic data and uncover molecular mechanisms related to biomass accumulation and stress responses. My professional experience includes working as a bioinformatician at the Corporación para Investigaciones Biológicas (CIB) in Colombia, processing large-scale biological data and implementing machine learning methods. I also collaborated with the Sociedad Colombiana de Orquideología (SCO) on open-source monitoring systems for pollinators and orchids, merging biology, technology, and engineering for ecological conservation.I have contributed to peer-reviewed publications, including studies on genetic diversity in coconut populations, antimicrobial peptide prediction, soil microbial communities, and plant-based bioprocesses. I have also contributed chapters to books on plant biotechnology and bioreactor optimization.My multidisciplinary skills include: Gene co-expression network analysis for bioenergy crops. Pan-genome/Pan-transcriptome inference and analyisis. Bioinformatics using Python and R for transcriptomic, genomic, metagenomic data. Focusing in reusing publicly available data Plant cell culture and bioprocess optimization for biomass and recombinant protein production. Machine learning for biological data analysis. Developing ecological monitoring systems.I am fluent in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, which enhances my ability to collaborate in international research.
