Zubeidat Precious Ahmed

Zubeidat Precious Ahmed is a biologist with a First-Class Honours degree in Biology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. I am currently pursuing a Masters degree in Ecology at the University of São Paulo, Brazil, where I am deepening my expertise in microbial ecology and environmental biology. My academic and research journey reflects my interest in cellular and molecular processes and how they relate to broader ecological systems.My research interests lie at the intersection of cellular and molecular biology, with a growing focus on microbial ecology, toxicology, and ecosystem health. I am currently part of a research project that aims to elucidate and predict the ecological roles of cyanopeptides produced during cyanobacterial blooms in freshwater reservoirs. This project integrates high-throughput techniques such as metagenomics and metatranscriptomics with ecological and toxicological assessments to better understand bloom dynamics, secondary metabolite production, and their impacts on public water systems.In addition to my current Master's research, I have co-authored a peer-reviewed article titled Assessment of bacteriological quality and physico-chemical parameters of domestic water sources in Samaru community, Zaria, Northwest Nigeria, which highlights the intersection of environmental microbiology and public health. Through this and other collaborative efforts, I have developed strong research skills in water quality monitoring, laboratory microbiology, and data interpretation using statistical tools. I have also actively participated in student-led tutorials and research discussions, particularly in helping fellow students understand difficult biological concepts. I enjoy breaking down complex ideas and sharing knowledge in ways that are accessible and engaging, which has helped fuel my commitment to mentoring and science communication.As someone deeply committed to both academic excellence and community impact, I aim to contribute to solutions for water quality degradation, harmful algal blooms, and the misuse of ecological resources. I am passionate about scientific research that can inform policy, improve environmental health, and promote sustainable development. I am particularly drawn to interdisciplinary collaboration bringing together cell biology, molecular ecology, toxicology, and computational biology to answer real world environmental questions.Beyond research, I enjoy curating content related to ecology, biology, and academic development.
