Mauro Nogueira da Silva

BPharm, MSc Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. rer. nat. Pharmaceutical Biology. I have been working in Chemistry of Natural Products, and my interests are currently geared towards the hit- and lead- finding stages of the Drug Discovery process, especially using computer based approaches. During my Doctorate I developed a new strategy to streamline the discovery of bioactive compounds from plants combining chemometric analysis and chemoinformatic tools. My experiences are in the field of Modeling, such as PLS Modeling, Artificial Neural Network modeling, and different approaches on Molecular Modeling. Researches carried out earlier during my Bachelor and Master were dedicated on the isolation and identification of bioactive compounds, e.g, antibacterial and antiedematogenic, and chemical markers from plant extracts. The projects involved the use of techniches such as in vitro assays, chromatography, Countercurrent Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry and NMR. During the Master I have also conducted studies for the pharmaceutical development of solid dosage form of medicinal plant extracts, which gave me also experiences in Pharmaceutical Technology.
