LIA is formed as a convergence of four research groups, witch aggregates researchers that have been working on the development of computational solutions for e-learning applications: Two groups from the Computer Science Department, at Federal University of São Carlos. One group that is involved on HCI research and another group that has been working on the f development of tools to support three-dimensional collaborative virtual environments; One group from the Nursing Department at Federal University of São Carlos that is involved on nursing electronic education and training; One group from the Computer Engineering Department at Escola Politécnica - USP, that is working on usability assessment methods to enhance interactive Systems quality. LIA aggregates the potential of its researcher's team, which has been developing tools and mechanisms for Distance Education. LIA is characterized as a group that works on the development of e-learning authoring tools, educational software components, and learning activities and so, satisfies TIDIA e-learning requirements to become a proponent for LDA.
