Resumo

This paper aims to analyze the potential of negative sequence voltage to detect conductor break in distribution systems, using only measurements at the substation. The proposed idea is simple and practical to be implemented, contributing to studies in the area. The results indicate the negative sequence voltage can be an efficient metric to detect the breakage of the conductor, and to distinguish it from other events, such as lateral branches, linear load, and capacitor switching, non-linear load energizing, and voltage sag and swell, even with the presence of noise. Additionally, this paper provides four cases of analysis, considering the influence of topological changes in the system on the negative sequence voltage calculation. (AU)
