Resumo

Expanded vermiculite and tire rubber are low-density materials and can be used as lightweight aggregates in the production of mortar and concrete. In this research, the properties of cementitious composites containing expanded vermiculite and tire rubber in partial replacement of the sand were studied to verify the potential effect on impact noise control. The ratios of tire rubber in the composites were 10, 20, and 30% varying the ratios of vermiculite by 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50%. With the increase of the rubber and vermiculite contents, it was observed that the density decreases in the range of 9 to 26% and the compressive strength in the range of 37 to 75%. There was a reduction in ultrasound pulse velocity by 28% and dynamic modulus by 61%. Cementitious composites containing vermiculite and tire rubber can be a sustainable alternative for lighter structures, promoting a reduction of impact noise in buildings. (AU)
