Resumo

Endophytic microorganisms lives in symbiotic association with plants, and can produce interesting substances to men. This study aimed to isolate and characterize endophytic microorganisms from Miconia albicans producing bioactive substances. All isolates exhibited activity against at least one of the pathogens tested. The majority of isolates (62 %) showed inhibition against Enterococcus faecalis. One isolate was active against Serratia marcensis (36 mm). Two isolates appeared to have a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity. Isolate 4 presented bioactivity against E. faecalis (32), Staphylococcus aureus (35), Candida albicans (34) and Shigella sonnei (32). Isolate 6 was bioactive against E. faecalis and S. aureus, with halos of 18 and 15 mm, respectively. Isolate 8 showed inhibition against E. faecalis (26), S. aureus (15), C. albicans (24), E. coli (21) and S. sonnei (25). Isolates 5 and 7 were not bioactive. Genotypic analysis characterized Nocardiopsis dassonville and Amycolatopsis orientalis, reporting for the first time the intrinsically association of endophytes with aerial parts of Miconia albicans a typical plant from Brazilian tropical savannah in Sao Carlos, SP.
