Resumo

This report investigated the effect of low-temperature aging on the (O + (3 microstructure in the Ti-30Nb-3Fe alloy (wt%). Samples were subjected to several aging procedures. The (O + (3 microstructure remained quite stable under conventional transmission electron microscopy across most temperature/time regimes. Only the double aging treatment led to the growth of (O particles and an increased in Vickers hardness, indicating that the preaging treatment was necessary to promote rapid (O growth in the subsequent treatment. Furthermore, the early stages of solute partitioning that accompanies (O growth did not drastically increase hardness, suggesting that no embrittlement occurred. (AU)
