Resumo

The objective of this study is to investigate radiophotoluminescence (RPL) properties of sodium borate glass doped with Ag. The material exhibits a broad emission band as RPL between 600 and 700 nm in the photoluminescence (PL) spectrum after X-ray irradiation. The time-resolved PL spectroscopy revealed the lifetime being approximately 2 mu s. From both the spectrum and lifetime features the luminescence origin is attributed to Ag2+ and Ag+ 2 centers formed by ionizing radiation. The PL intensity can be utilized as a probe of radiation dose while the sensitivity varies with the doping concentration, with the 2.0 % Ag sample showing the highest sensitivity. Thermal treatment studies demonstrated that the RPL signal can be amplified by heating at 225 degrees C, while the Ag2+ and Ag+ 2 centers can be decomposed at 500 degrees C. (AU)
