Resumo

The adoption of Agriculture 4.0 technologies within the agri-food system is increasingly recognized in the scientific literature as a promising approach to ensure global food security and healthy nutrition. However, the adoption process of such technologies-including artificial intelligence, robotics, the internet of things, machine learning, and drones-faces challenges, especially as the pace of technological change increases and advanced skills become essential for effectively integrating new technologies. It is crucial to structure existing knowledge on the factors that positively influence the dissemination of Agriculture 4.0 technologies within the agri-food system to develop the necessary absorption capacity for their effective adoption. This study aims to address this gap by identifying potential drivers that may accelerate the adoption of agriculture 4.0 technologies in the agri-food system. Based on this analysis, a roadmap for future research is proposed, taking into account the multidisciplinary nature of the studies conducted on this topic. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was performed following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) protocol. Applying pre-established inclusion and exclusion criteria to the ScienceDirect and Scopus databases, 70 articles were selected for analysis. The drivers summarized in the SLR were classified into five clusters and exert varying levels of influence on the adoption rate of Agriculture 4.0 technologies in the agri-food system, namely: social (28.5%), technological (24.35%), political (22.8%), economic (12.95%), and environmental (11.4%). These drivers refer to changes driven by natural or human factors, which influence decision-making regarding the adoption of Agriculture 4.0 technologies. The identification and analysis of these drivers provide informational elements that support the reflections and actions of the public and private sectors, guiding the definition of action plans, objectives, and goals to expand the introduction of Agriculture 4.0 technologies worldwide. This study directs future scientific debates on the drivers of Agriculture 4.0 technologies in the agri-food system-from the perspective of what positively influences this path-clarifying knowledge gaps and opening new horizons regarding relevant literature.
