Resumo

The International Course on Seed Physiology and Production (CIFPS) is back for a fourth edition, 12 years after the first. CIFPS IV provides a solid bridge between researchers of different nationalities. It will have seeds at its core in relation with climate change. For that, vigor and longevity will be regarded as the key traits to promote environmental, social, and food security. Relevant updates on functioning, metabolism and predictability, in addition to in-depth studies on molecular and imaging techniques, will be addressed, but respecting a classical basis, covered over the three days. Intending to provide cutting-edge knowledge in a didactic manner, combining theoretical and practical concepts, the course intends to offer students (undergraduate and graduate), researchers, and professionals in the seed industry an intensive update in the area, with the presentation and discussion of current techniques to assess physiological quality of seeds. The expected result is to guide improvements in the quantitative (kg ha-1) and qualitative (physical, physiological, genetic and sanitary quality) production of seeds in tropical environments. The topics discussed will be addressed through an exchange of ideas between national and international professionals with recognized competence in their areas of activity. (AU)
