Resumo

In this workshop will be discussed the objectives, the expected results and justification of this project which aims are: 1.to find polymetallic deposits with larger abundance than those already known in the literature in a smaller portion of the Brazilian Basin, integrating secondary statistics with new information acquired during the oceanographic survey;2.to assess the mineralogy, geochemistry and geophysics of the deposit under investigation and speculate on the origin of the polymetallic deposits and their relationship with the surrounding environment, in particular the redox potential of the adjacent water column as affected by biogeochemical processes throughout the whole water column;3.to investigate the biogenic role of bacteria in the deposition and concentration of oxidized metals, studying the diversity and abundance of these micro organisms and their similarities with those present in the soil;4.to study for the first time the economic profitability of a Brazilian mining venture and its impact on the internal economy of the metal industry.
