Fernando Forato Anhe

I am an Assistant Professor at Université Lavals Faculty of Medicine (Québec, Canada). My laboratory is located at the Québec Heart and Lung Institute Research Center (CRIUCPQ). I am also a researcher at the Institute of Nutrition and Functional Foods (INAF). I obtained a bachelor's degree in dentistry (2007) and a master's degree in physiology (2010) both from the University of Sao Paulo. In 2012, I earned a PhD in physiology-endocrinology (2017) from Université Laval (Québec, Canada). Later, I completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Centre for Metabolism, Obesity and Diabetes and at the Farncombe Institute (McMaster University, Canada, 2018-2022). Funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and Diabetes Canada, my research focuses on how the gut microbiota modifies host metabolism. My laboratory combines molecular biology techniques, transgenic and gnotobiotic mouse models, and optimized immuno-metabolic phenotyping techniques to better understand the enteric determinants of metabolic control.
