I hold a BA with Honours from the Universidade de São Paulo (2005) and a Doctorate in Language from Universidade de São Paulo (2011) - ?The Rime of the Ancient Mariner as an Artistical Representation of Romantic Revery?. Combining an indepth engagement with Coleridge and a deep commitment to interdisciplinarity, my PhD dissertation and aspects of my current research examine concepts of revery, the agency of the imagination in Romantic writing, as well as notions of organicism and the dream. I work also as a poet, playwright and literary critic. I also have an expertise in the Theory and Practice of Literary Translation with an emphasis on a methodology which I term ?poetic paraphrase? (please see my statement of purpose included in this document). Since 2001 I have been employed to teach Literary Translation and Poetic Translation at Citrat, a translation center at the University of São Paulo. Subsequently I was affiliated to the Faculdade de Filosofia, Letras e Ciências Humanas, FFLCH, Brazil (2013) -a position funded by a postdoctoral scholarship awarded by the Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo. At present, I am the recipient of a postdoctoral award at King´s College London. This award is enabling me to conduct research for my forthcoming book, In Search of Paraphrase . I am also a Visiting Fellow at University of Roehampton, London, from the 2nd September to the 2nd December , a role which includes the preparation of an anthology of contemporary British poetry in partnership with Professor Fiona Sampson. I am currently preparing several books for publication details all of which build upon my expertise in poetic translation including the poetic translation of Evguéni Oniéguin, by Alexander Puskin, in partnership with the late Bóris Schneidermann and Elena Vássina; an edition of 80 poems by Philip Larkin (with a postscript by Michael Hamburger) and individual anthologies including poems by Tony Harrison, John Fuller, Christopher Reid, Craig Raine, and Georges Szirtes. In Harrison´s case, I have translated three books until now, which are V, The Shadow of Hiroshima and A Cold Coming. During the process of translation, I have had the opportunity to work closely with Harrison. Faber and Faber have recently agreed to publish these three poems as books in the form of bilingual editions with extended essays by myself. These will also be published and publicized by Ateliê Publishing House in Brazil. Besides translation work, I am an essayist, poet and playwright with more than one hundred published titles including translations, original texts and plays produced. As a teacher, I have given courses in literary and poetry translation at the University of São Paulo, Casa das Rosas and Casa Guilherme de Almeida. I was part of the ?Os Irlandeses? [The Irish] project, developed by Banco do Brasil Cultural Centre, and the ?O Escritor na Biblioteca? [Writer in the Library] lecture circuit, conducted by the São Paulo Municipal Department of Culture. As a literary critic, I have been published by O Estado de São Paulo newspaper, Cult magazine and I am currently a contributor to Folha de São Paulo newspaper. This emphasis in a practice of poetic translation as a genre inseparable from criticism stems from my commitment to poetic translation (see CV). My practice of poetic translation and my critical essays challenge still prevalent notions of ?transcreation? associated with the concrete Brazilian poets since the 1960s. In my view, their "over-interpretations", their ?cannibalistically devouring" is perhaps not distant from Dryden?s ?imitation?. The prevalence of Ezra Pound in Brazil failed to notice the idea of ?the Same in the Other?, instead of an ?Otherness in the Others?, as an idea originated from the modernist?s fascination with ?myth?. Instead I am inspired by Michael Hamburger´s writings and practice. (Fonte: Currículo Lattes)
