Resumo

Low-frequency oscillation modes when poorly damped can compromise the stable and continuous operation of power systems. The recent development of Wide-Area Measurement Systems allows data from Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) to be used to compose a Wide-Area Damping Controller (WADC) and dampen these oscillation modes. However, the vulnerability of PMU data to cyber-attacks that can compromise the stability of the power system makes the implementation of the WADC difficult. This article proposes a WADC resilient design method based on an optimization problem. A metaheuristic called African Vultures Optimization Algorithm will be used to solve the optimization problem. Case studies show the effectiveness of the designed controller in the dynamic performance of the system in continuous operation or under attack in its communication channels. (AU)
