Resumo

The transient phenomena exhibited by power systems during disturbances such as faults, switching in system topology and the relative motion of larger generators, can be characterized by amplitude and frequency modulation of the nominal fundamental three-phase sinusoidal signals. In this paper, the effects of signal modulation in the phasor computation process are explored using a Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) simulator. To reach this goal a new signal modulation feature has been built in the SIMULINK-based Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) software package. The effects of these modulations in the PMU signals are analyzed using the frequency spectrum. This new feature may help, especially for power system engineers, in studying power system oscillations using PMU data. (AU)
