Resumo

Workshop Summary: Carbon Dynamics in Soil-Plant-Animal-Atmosphere InteractionsThe FAPESP-CNRS/CIRAD/INRAE Workshop will focus on "Carbon dynamics in soil-plant-animal-atmosphere interactions", with a specific emphasis on transforming traditional agricultural farms into carbon-neutral systems. Hosted by CCARBON/USP at the ESALQ Conference Hall in Piracicaba, São Paulo, Brazil, from November 4-6, 2024, the workshop will bring together an interdisciplinary group of scientists and stakeholders from France and Brazil.The event will host 30 participants, including early-career and senior researchers in agronomy, sustainable development, and land management, along with invited non-academic participants. The goal is to foster collaboration between France and Brazil, leveraging their respective agricultural expertise to tackle the challenge of sustainable food production while enhancing carbon sequestration.The workshop will feature flash-talks, networking sessions, and discussions aimed at developing a joint research proposal that addresses climate change adaptation and mitigation, greenhouse gas emissions, and sustainable land use. It will also explore trade-offs between biodiversity, food production, and carbon sequestration, contributing to the global effort to meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals.The outcomes will include a draft research proposal and a manuscript summarizing the workshop findings, promoting future collaborations and knowledge-sharing on a global scale.
