Resumo

The workshop will be held at the Maresias in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The venue has ample conference room space to accommodate the expected 60 attendees (20 US, 15 Brazil, 25 International). The US and International attendees will fly to Guarulhos, Sao Paulo with their own funding. Brazilian organization from Sao Paulo will cover the accommodation, transportations and living costs. To accomplish the goals of addressing the research and discussion we build up a busy agenda. Discussion leaders have been assigned to some of the speaking roles, however there is room to incorporate new individuals into leadership positions depending on the attendee list. The first two days will be used to engage the participants in a series of information and discussion sessions aimed to increase group understanding of the BEM. Day two will culminate in a poster session featuring participants' research. The final day will provide a full day of synthesis to develop lead proponents for multiple facets of the larger IODP proposal. This day will aim to finalize drill sites, specific objectives and identify authors for proposal text. Final report writing assignments will be identified at the close of the meeting. (AU)
