Resumo

Dendrochronology is the study of the chronological sequence of annual growth rings in trees. Research on tree rings has led to the development of various subareas of dendrochronology. For example, dendrogeomorphology, which relates to the dating and deciphering of geological and geomorphological processes. It seeks to understand the historical dimensions of geomorphological process mechanics and fluctuations. It can also be used as a tool and a database for assessing hazard risks. We used bibliometric analysis to provide an overview of scientific publications related to the evolution, emerging trends, and gaps in dendrogeomorphology studies. We used the Web of Science and Scopus as bibliographic sources, and 286 articles on dendrogeomorphology were gathered. The results showed that publications in this field have been increasing over the years, especially in the last decade. The primary countries devoted to research in this field were Switzerland and the Czech Republic. The main network collaboration comprised Switzerland, Spain, France, Italy, and Poland. More importantly, it is crucial for researchers to emphasize more on studies in tropical zones in the future. Other contributions of this work include identifying geomorphological processes that use dendrogeomorphology, such as soil erosion, debris flow, landslide, flood/flashflood, snow avalanche, and rockfall activity.
