Resumo

Important advances in eyewitness testimony research have been achieved in the last few years, but applying such advances to actual eyewitness interviewing contexts poses several challenges. Thus, we discuss here the challenges of such application, considering the particularities of the Brazilian legal system. Specifically, we discuss the political, legal, and structural issues involved in the application of these practices in Brazil while considering recent research advances on eyewitness testimony produced by cognitive psychology. Such discussion may pave the way toward the adoption of fairer and more accurate eyewitness interviewing and identification practices in Brazil and in other developing countries. (AU)
