Resumo

Este projeto visa trabalhar com a sistemática e distribuição das principais famíliasde aranhas haplóginas da região Neotropical. Os táxons considerados aqui são Mygalomorphae, Haplogynae e Palpimanidae, todas apresentando a condição haplógina, isto é, genitália feminina com fundo cego, apresentando duetos de copulação e fertilização fundidos e genitália dos machos com formato geral simples e quase sem escleritos acessórios. Dentre os objetivos propostos, podemos destacar o incremento no conhecimento sistemática de Oonopidae, dentro do Projeto PBI/AMNH/USA; a taxonomia e filogenia famílias como Sicariidae, Scytodidae, Pholcidae, Segestriidae e ldiopidae, para as quais existe linha de pesquisa em andamento; montagem de um banco de tecidos para aranhas destes grupos e implementação de análises filogenéticas moleculares; redelimitação e diagnose de gêneros ou grupos de espécies que estejam sendo revisados, de acordo com os resultados de análises cladísticas, e diagnose e descrição de eventuais gêneros novos, dentro de um contexto filogenético.
