Resumo

The conference Chemical Probe-Based Open Science will take place on 28 and 29 of April 2014 at the University of Campinas - UNICAMP, Brazil. The site of the conference in the Nature web site can found at: http://www.nature.com/natureconferences/sgc2014/index.htmlThis 2-day conference will showcase the latest advances in discovery, design and application of Chemical Probes in human and plant biology - and how ensuring that these molecules are made available with no restrictions on use accelerates innovation in previously uncharted pathways and processes. The decision to organise such a meeting in Campinas is intended to emphasize the role played by institutions in the State of São Paulo and their vision in participating in this new field. World-leading experts in this exciting field (from Brazil and abroad) will share their experiences with the wider scientific community. This conference represents an unique opportunity to position São Paulo on the global stage and at the same time encourage the development of Open Access Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry in Brazil and other parts of world. It is envisaged that the collaborative scientific environment promoted by such an event will open new perspectives for clinical research for the benefit of patients as well as advances in crop sciences. The conference will be a partnership with the SGC and Nature - making this conference the first Nature-sponsored conference ever held in South America. This will also be the first conference that deeply explores the ways in which chemical biology can impact both human and plant biology. (AU)
