If f is an idempotent in a ring Lambda, then we find sufficient conditions which imply that the cohomology rings circle plus n >= 0 Ext(Lambda)(n)(Lambda/r, Lambda/r) and circle plus n >= o EXf Lambda fn (f Lambda f/frf, f Lambda f/frf) are eventually isomorphic. This result allows us to compare finite generation and Gelfand-Kirillov dimensions of the cohomology rings of Lambda and f Lambda f.
