Resumo

This work shows data intercomparisons between different sorts of measurements of total ozone content performed in Natal, Brazil (latitude: 5.8 S, longitude: 35.2 W, sea level) during five years. Total ozone content retrieved by remote sensors and ozonesondes data were compared and used as input data in an UV radiative transfer computational model. Discrepancies between ozone data were responsible by relevant variations in ultraviolet index forecasts. The data set was collected from September 2002 and May 2006 and processed from: (1) Aqua-AIRS; (2) Aqua-MODIS; (3) TOMS; and (4) ozonesondes measurements. Approximately 128 matchups are considered. UVR calculations, provided by the Ultraviolet Global Atmospheric Model (UVGAME), were performed under different ozone dataset and discrepancy of the results was evaluated. MODIS and TOMS data show better correlation and smaller discrepancies. Overestimated data were observed in AIRS and ozonesonde datasets. These differences may induce discrepancies larger than +/- 10% in UVI calculations. Future work will focus on validation for other sites of the SHADOZ campaign and OMI satellite data. (AU)
