Suppose that K and S are locally compact Hausdorff spaces and X is a Hilbert space. It is proven that if there exist real numbers M >= 1, L >= 0 and a map T from C-0(K,X)to C-0(S,X) satisfying 1/M parallel to f-g parallel to-L <=parallel to T(f)-T(g)parallel to <= M parallel to f-g parallel to+L, for every f and g in C-0(K, X), then there are a locally compact subset S-0 of S and a proper continuous function phi of S-0 onto K, on the assumption that M-2<2 root 7-2/3. In this case, as an immediate consequence, phi generates a linear isometry of C-0(K) into C-0(S-0). Even in the Lipschitz case (L=0), this result is the first nonlinear vector generalization of a classical Jarosz theorem (1984) concerning the into linear isomorphisms of spaces of continuous functions on locally compact Hausdorff spaces.
