Análise genômica comparativa de escherichia coli extra-instestinal de origem humana e aviária

Resumo

Avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC) strains are agents of significant degrees of morbidity and mortality in broilers and laying hens, causing losses to the poultry industry worldwide. Furthermore, APEC strains have been suggested to play a role as potential zoonotic agents. In this project, we aim to assemble the genomes of APEC and human extra-intestinal pathogenic (ExPEC) strains, studied during the Posdoctoral project (FAPESP 2012/05073-3). The assembling will allow comparisons between the core and accessory genomes. Pathogenicity islands (PAIs), will be detected in silico. Phylogenomics will be compared with the MLST and ECOR typing, which were performed under the framework of the 2012/05073-3 project. The comparisons between APEC and human ExPEC may demonstrate remarkable similarities, regarding the phylogenetic background and virulence traits. These similarities may indicate new overlapped characteristics between APEC and human ExPEC, reinforcing or demonstrating the zoonotic potential of a subset of APEC strains. (AU)
