Resumo

Nosso objetivo é entender melhor os determinantes de padrões de endemismo e diversidade de espécies em um hotspot de biodiversidade que está encolhendo: A Mata Atlântica. Nós focamos em Lepidoptera para quantificar a extensão e magnitude de dispersão, adaptação, especiação e fatores antropogênicos em moldar a atual diversidade genética e de espécies. Nós vamos estimar árvores filogenômicas robustas e compilar grandes bases de dados georreferenciadas de ocorrência de espécies para estimar a contribuição do ambiente e de características dessas espécies na distribuição. Nós também vamos inferir dinâmicas de dispersão e diversificação para avaliar o tempo e modo de acumulação de diversidade e endemismo. Finalmente, vamos usar dados genômicos amplos de seis espécies parapátricas para identificar processos populacionais agindo durante a diferenciação ao longo de gradientes de elevação. Esse projeto vai elucidar como espécies e seus genomas respondem a mudanças ambientais em uma estrutura unificada, oferecendo novas perspectivas sobre como análises genômicas e de big-data podem aumentar nosso entendimento acerca dos fatores que moldam padrões de biodiversidade.
