Abstract

The present invention relates to the method for extracting and isolating active substances from the pulp of the umbu plant (Spondias tuberosa Arr. Camara). Said active substances exhibit powerful chemopreventive activity, and in view of these characteristics, the fractionated dichloromethane extract and the active principles obtained by the present method can be used in nutraceutical and/or functional foods.
