Resumo

Estudos recentes mostram que monoalquilcarbonatos (MACs) são formados em meio aquoso a partir de dióxido de carbono ou bicarbonato e álcoois. Dentre estes, álcoois alifáticos e açúcares têm sido de particular interesse em nossas investigações. Muitos metabólitos podem por si serem enquadrados em uma destas classes, ou apresentam porções da estrutura molecular com reatividade regida por elas. Assim, este projeto se propõe a estudar a formação e as propriedades de MACs com vistas a identificar espécies com possível função biológica. Até o momento, temos utilizado a eletroforese capilar com detecção condutométrica sem contato (CE-C4D) como principal técnica. Nossa intenção é envolver a espectrometria de massas com ionização por electrospray como alternativa e também de forma hifenada com a eletroforese. Esperamos, ao final do período, poder responder a perguntas sobre a formação e as propriedades de MACs graxos e de mono e dissacarídeos, bem como sobre o efeito de algumas anidrases carbônicas sobre a interconversão entre bicarbonato e os MACs.
