Abstract

SUMMARYExperimental model for evaluation of a new model of support for middle ear in guinea pigsIntroduction and Rationale: Middle ear diseases that require surgical intervention are common in the otorhinolaryngologist's daily practice. Supporting materials are needed to maintain local aeration, act as a support framework for grafting, and promote hemostasis. The geofoam® is the most used in the works in the literature question its use due to evidence in the media of the ear mucosa. Thus, offering a hemostatic and hemostatic material derived from porcine dermis with less risk of detrimental effects to the patient, associated with a lower cost because it was developed by national technology would be extremely interestingObjective: to evaluate the durability, ototoxicity and vestibulotoxicity of this new material and a reaction of the middle ear mucosa in Cavia Porcellus (guinea pigs) to later testes in humans.Materials and Methods: It will consist of the use of 20 guinea pigs for histological analysis, where an embassy opening is submitted as tympanic bulls and porcine collagen is placed to the right and gelfoam to the left, besides a small incision in the animal's back and placement of collagen of Swine on the right and gelfoam on the left. On the back of the animal performed in the IVIS (fluoridation CY5) to evaluate the speed of absorption of this material compared to the foam gel. Five guinea pigs with 15 days and 5 guinea pigs with 30 days will be sacrificed to evaluate the durability of the middle ear mucosa axis material and these are stained with hematosiline and eosin. Another 10 guinea pigs will undergo the same surgical procedure and vascularized with 30 days to evaluate their cochleae and semicircular canals in scanning electron microscopy to verify the toxicity and vestibulotoxicicade of this new material.
