Abstract

The project has two goals: (1) To develop a prototype of a wearable device (smartband) capable of transmitting data directly through a Mesh and Bluetooth network without the need of intermediation of a cell phone and (2) Constructing a prototype of for a system to capture, store and analyze data that can identify patterns of preventive health intervention through data analysis algorithms using the combination of dynamic and static data. Research indicates that health expenditures and the aging of the population are increasing and have a strong impact on the market for health care plans that moved 160 billion reais only in 2016, and a large part of the costs are associated with the payment of insurance claims. The analysis of behavioral patterns and dynamically monitored vital data added to the information available in insurance companies could allow a more assertive and fast performance in preventive and curative health practices, reducing costs for these companies and providing a better quality of life for the insured. In this sense, it is necessary a cheap device, suitable for reading key data, with great autonomy and convenience, especially focused on the elderly population. Considering that Phase 1 of PIPE-FAPESP seeks to demonstrate the technological feasibility of a product or process, it will be done at this stage: (1) the assessment of the technical and commercial feasibility of manufacturing / assembling the intelligent device through national know-how; (2) validation of the state of the art and field testing of the technologies used in the product, field evaluation of the Mesh infrastructure in Brazil and incorporation of new technological developments in the research period; And (3) unfolding the business model based on the prototype system for capturing, storing and analyzing data developed and the data analyzed in the product testing phase for the insurance market. At the end of this first phase, the following deliverables are aimed: Components and Suppliers Evaluation for construction of the latest generation wearable device in Brazil, Prototyping and Functional testing, Evaluation of existing and existing Mesh Communication Infrastructure, Detailed evaluation of new Wearables, Sensors and Actuators launched during the period of research, Evaluation and Field Test of existing Devices, Monitoring of vital signs in the test period, and preliminary structuring of the System for Capture, Storage and Data Analysis. With the aforementioned deliverables, we can adequately define the product to be developed in all levels of detail, i.e., technical feasibility and suitability, and also improve the business model so that it becomes more adherent to the target market, and in this sense validating its Commercial viability and business modeling at a detailed level. Based on that we would feel comfortable to pursue the PIPE Phase 2 goal, the main product development. (AU)
