Abstract

Chiral ligand-modified metal nanoparticles (NP) show unique stereoselective catalytic properties in several different kind of reactions as, for example, hydrogenation, oxidation and coupling processes. Moreover, chiral nanoparticles might play a key role in biomedical diagnosis and therapeutics. The NP surface chemistry is of fundamental importance in governing the steroselective or nanobio interactions . In this sense, configurationally defined sulfur ligands proved to be effective in building the required NP architecture. This project is mainly dedicated to the preparation of new chiral pyridinium salts to be directly used as a source of decorated NP or as precursors for new hydroxylthiols, that are promising gold NP modifiers. In addition to this goals, a new synthetic route to chiral oxazolidines and isoquinuclidines may be envisaged. (AU)
