Abstract

Orthopedic, dental components and implants market has grown in the last 12 years. According to The Brazilian Medical Devices Manufacturers Association (ABIMO), 2,5 million implants are sold per year in Brazil and it is the second biggest market of the World. But, The big challenge in implantology is to keep an osseointegration and the periimplant tissues free from infections after implanting the prosthesis, because It may cause some infections, provoking the implant rejection due to bacterial contamination. Nanox has 10 years of experience in developing and applying the bactericidal coatings and additives using silver based materials to different industries. Since 2010 Nanox and partner researchers have been studying the application of the silver nanostructure in titanium implants and the results is that slowing that coating significantly inhibits adhesion, growth and colonization of a wide range of pathogenic microorganisms, including those resistant to antibiotics. So, the main objetive of this project is to get bactericidal coating of SiO2/Ag e TiO2/Ag in implants of titanium PEEK (Polyether ether ketone) and PLA (polylactic acid) according to with ANVISA RDC 16/2013 making this coating in medical devices products.
