Abstract

Methods for measuring with cameras based on image processing are becoming more common every day. The technological development of cameras, computers and electronic devices enables researchers to develop new systems for measuring deformation and vibration. Among the possible applications, the monitoring of blade deformation in wind power towers appears as a promising application. Therefore, the objective of the proposed project is the development of an online and independent measurement system for measuring and monitoring deformation while the system generates electric energy. From the measured deformation, the graphical interface of the system will emit alarms that will serve as the basis for a decision taken about the security of operation. In addition, the results will also be stored into a database, where the measurement history can be accessed at any time via web for an off-line evaluation of the wind power generation system. (AU)
