Abstract

Lambari Deuterodon iguape is an endemic species of small rivers and coastal streams of São Paulo state. Its market possibilities for the São Paulo coast are considered broader than the other regions, since recent studies have identified, besides the possibility of sale as live bait for local sport fishing, other additional channels of commercialization of the species for human consumption, the from various commercialization equipment such as: fishmongers, bars, restaurants, beach kiosks, and there is also demand for use as fodder fish in aquarium stores and public aquariums in the region. The research project approaching this species will be divided into four distinct experiments whose objectives are: 1) To complement the available knowledge on the physiology and production factors of lambari D. iguape by developing a mathematical model that optimizes the ideal stocking density in recirculation systems, in addition to conducting an economic study; 2) Determine the sublethal effects of the species on the Triazol agricultural pesticide, commonly used in the region for spraying in banana farming, through LC50 tests, plankton toxicity analysis, routine metabolism study, swimming behavior and histological parameters; 3) Carried out the larvae of this species of lambari in oligohaline waters (5, 10 and 15 g/L) to verify the survival and later increase of its resistance when used as live bait in the estuarine sport fishing in comparison with non acclimated lambari; 4) To evaluate the efficiency of its use as live bait in bass fishing in estuarine environment when compared to artificial bait by fishery tests conducted in estuarine region.
