Abstract

The Department of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) of the Faculty of Education (FE) of the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) is located in the first floor of the main building of the FE. The Department includes the computer lab, the IT spare parts warehouse, the FE data processing center, the public service room and the staff room formed by ICT professionals. These spaces were adapted based on a pre-existing infrastructure that served other purposes, such as teaching staff or research groups. Throughout the years, several small renovations and adaptations have been made, especially in the electric cabinets, which have expanded the operational capacity of the Department to house the necessary equipment. However, the resulting infrastructure, although operational, is far from adequate for the functioning of the ICT Department, requiring a comprehensive reform to fit the entire infrastructure to the current technical needs.
